Factors Associated with Vegetable and Fruit Consumption in Students of SDN Bontoramba 1 Tamalanrea District Makassar City

Currently the habit of consuming vegetables and fruit is a source of vitamins and minerals as well as
fiber. The content of vitamins, minerals and fiber contained in vegetables and fruit functions as a regulatory substance to prevent vitamin deficiency and prevent the occurrence of various disease symptoms such as constipation, anemia, decreased eye function, decreased immune system, and prevent the emergence of radical compounds through anti-oxidants. In this case, consumption is more focused on vegetables and fruit. So, consumption of vegetables and fruit is the type and amount of vegetables and fruit eaten to meet life's needs which are useful for health.
When children know about the benefits of the amount of vegetables and fruit they should consume, the
child will be aware and interested in trying to consume them thereby increasing consumption of vegetables and
fruit. He also said that knowledge about vegetables and fruit can increase awareness and skills in preparing vegetables and fruit for consumption so that they will increase the amount of vegetable and fruit consumption in individuals.
This type of research uses quantitative research with a Cross Sectional Study approach with a total
sample of 37 respondents. This research instrument uses a number of questions arranged in the form of a questionnaire. The results of the study based on the chi square test showed that there was a significant relationship between knowledge (p-value 0,032), attitude (p-value 0,025), and consumption habits of vegetables and fruit (p-value 0,013) with vegetable and fruit consumption among students at SDN Bontoramba 1, Tamalanrea District, Makassar City.
The conclusions of the results of this study indicate that knowledge, attitudes, and consumption habits of vegetables and fruit have a relationship with vegetable and fruit consumption in students of SDN Bontoramba 1, Tamalanrea District, Makassar City.
